Exploring Printmaking

We will explore: monotype, relief and reduction prints as well as gelatin plate prints. All materials and tools will be discussed the first week. Examples of different print styles will be available for your reference. Class will begin with a still life set up for the monoprint in the first session. In the first class we will also discuss suitable reference photos, pictures, and drawings for subsequent weeks’ projects. What about creating your own Holiday greeting cards, wine labels or book plates? This is the method and the possibilities are endless!

Mondays 9:30 - NOON contiuously for 10 weeks $270.00 + GST

Materials List

The first week, materials will be available for your use as we will be starting with monotypes. A small fee for inks and paper will be approx $8.00.

Subsequent weeks:

A wood block min. size 5 1/2 x 6 inches (or) a lino block, min. size 3 x 5 inches. Papers: newsprint for proofing, Japanese papers or others. A supply of block printing inks in black and other colours of your choice. Brayers, palette knives, lino cut tools, wood cut tools, Xacto knives, mark makers such as brushes, Q-tips, toothpicks, etc.
